More and more universities and educational centres are betting on innovation and trusting aluNID® as a supplier of honeycomb core for their projects and participation in international competitions.

ARUS Andalucía Racing Team, from the University of Seville, is a vivid example. aluNID® began its collaboration with this team in 2018 and since then they have been one of its main sponsors. Formed by a cast of brilliant students from different fields, it competes at an international level in the Formula Student competition, considered the “quarry” of Formula 1.

ARUS Andalucía Racing Team is one of the main teams in the competition, and has been successful in the most important circuits such as Austria and Spain, achieving 7th and 4th place on the overall podium respectively.

The aluNID® honeycomb core is mainly used as an impact attenuator in the monocoque chassis, which gives the vehicle greater strength and safety in the event of a crash. Also, thanks to the lightness of this material, the weight of the vehicle is much lower, allowing it to achieve higher speeds and greater energy efficiency.

Thanks to these properties, the high quality of the aluminium honeycomb and the good results obtained in the race, the collaboration has been renewed for the 21-22 season and it will be aluNID® who will help in the manufacture of the single-seater for the following season.

Proof of this is that all the products that we produce in this business area are ecodesigned, that means, since the first approach and passing for the development and up to finish with life cycle, aluNID® respects your environment.

This is possible because, for the elaboration of some alloys aluNID® utilizes recycled aluminium instead or primary aluminium, that means a reduction in consumption of 95% compared to that used in the extraction of primary aluminium*. This reduction also has a clear environmental benefit and it is that by consuming much less energy, the emissions of greenhouse gases during the production process are also much more reduced.

The aluminium is a material infinite recyclable. It keeps 100% of its properties during recycling process and for this reason is possible to produce products maintaining the same quality.

Moreover, all the waste generated during the production are recycled and/or reused on a case-by-case basis. Therefore aluNID® is a clear example of integration of circular economy with our plant, from being a waste product to resource through the reuse of leftover materials. In that way, aluNID® shows its firm compromise with circular economy and environmental sustainability.

The aluNID® aluminium honeycomb core is exhibited in Zurich thanks to ALUCOAT’s collaboration with Swiss artist Esther Marthis.

Esther Marthis, an avant-garde artist who uses innovative materials in her works, has extensive experience in the world of the arts. On this occasion, she has decided to make the honeycomb core, aluNID®, an important element in her new temporary exhibition. Entitled „Nightshades„, the artist has exhibited works of different sizes in which she has applied spray paint to the honeycomb, creating incredible shadows and effects.

More and more artists and photographers are becoming interested in using aluNID® as a new element for their exhibitions, not only because of its enormous moulding capacity to create new decorative and artistic shapes, but also because thanks to the properties of aluminium, aluNID® has an excellent adhesion to paint, creating unique reflections and original shapes.

In addition, the aluminium honeycomb core is known for its special properties of lightness, excellent flatness, non-combustibility, strong compression and shear and for its particular structure, making it a very versatile material for use in countless applications, which is why artists have turned to it as a new element in their works.

Vacuum tables are the ideal platform to perform multiple processes in today’s industry, such as screen printing, electronics, modeling, engraving and high precision laser.

Thanks to its lightness, flatness and resistance properties, aluNID® Drilled, the perforated honeycomb core, is ideal for creating these work surfaces. It provides improvements such as increased performance in the tables, static and dynamic stiffness, being able to perform a dynamic vacuum in them. In addition, honeycomb core vacuum tables are the best thermal option, since thanks to their metallic construction they reduce the effect of temperature differences on the support surface, constituting an important thermal insulation.

Industrial metal cabinets have a multitude of uses, one of the most common is to protect electronic equipment, where electromagnetic radiation and the need to maintain a constant flow of air can become a problem. For this reason, it is necessary to use ventilation systems that are incorporated into industrial cabinets to guarantee the safety of the equipment.

The aluNID® honeycomb core is ideal for the design of these ventilation systems because it achieves an outstanding attenuation of electromagnetic radiation.

It has several cell sizes, 1/8 ”being the most used size. The smaller the cell size and the greater the thickness of the honeycomb grid, the greater the electromagnetic attenuation as shielding.
